A Series Of Updates Is On Its Way…

A series of 3 great updates is on its way to UltimateFavesPRO. These updates will give UltimateFavesPRO a huge benefit over its younger brother UltimateFaves. I’ll just throw in a smidgen of information. Each update will get its own post soon:

  1. Upcoming update – New carousel types: Carousels that show the recently used tasks, current running tasks, and current running processes, allowing you do kill applications and processes, and uninstall applications, making UltimateFavesPRO a worthy replacement to your favorite task-manager.
  2. Next update – Custom icons!!! This is going to be such a great update, with free icon packs available for download from the Android market. You’ll love it!
  3. 3rd update is going to include in-depth support for Android 2.0 accounts, giving you more control over the contacts and phone numbers you put in your carousels and some other Android 2.0 related surprises.

Of course each of the updates will include bug fixes. Thanks for all the users who are sending me mails with suggestions, requests, and issues, and of course your great feedback. These updates are for you!

I just bought ultimate faves pro, and am having problems with your program. I uninstalled some of the programs in my carousel, and wanted to edit the carousel to remove them. Everytime I try to do this, I get a force close of the app. I can’t even get into the edit menu without it fc ing. Very frusterating. Before paying for the pro app, it said that there would be more options with pro, however, there do not seem to be more options in the menu at all. Also disapointing. The only good thing notacablly different with your pro version is the unlimited carousel feature. I do not see how I can edit it though without the force close issue though, and want to know what to do. I hope I do not have to take it off my desktop and start over entirely. It would be good if the carousel itself sync’d with the apps installed/uninstalled on the phone. I also wish the carsouel was a widget that would stay on the desktop all the time without having to push the icon to start it and the back button to retun to the desktop. It would give the app a more permenant feel, like it was made to be a part of the phone as an organizer. It would also be cool if each screen on my desktop could have its own carousel with its own options. Only one more concern, if I had to uninstall and reinstall this app due to bug issues, how would I be able to get it again without having to pay for it twice? Thanks for listening to my feedback.

      1. Uninstalling an app that’s on the carousel does NOT cause a force-close. I’ve tested this scenario many times (including now, after reading your comment). If UltimateFavesPRO force closes, you are welcome to send me the phone’s log file and I will fix it for the upcoming update.
      2. Your comment is posted under the “series of updates” post. All these updates are going to be exclusively for UltimateFavesPRO, the free version will not include them.
      3. Having said that, I think that paying 1.49$ for UltimateFavesPRO even with only the unlimited carousels benefit. is VERY cheap, taking into account that this software took several months to develop.
      4. To clean up the carousel: Start the application, Click on Menu -> Remove all, and set up the carousel again. You do not need to uninstall the application for this.
      5. I also wish the carousel could be a widget that stays on the home screen, but that’s not technically possible. Widgets are very limited in what they can do, and they cannot have animation like UltimateFaves does. The only way to do it is to create a home-screen replacement app that has such functionality, but I’m currently no planning on doing so. Maybe I will at some point in the future, but I have a lot of planned features before that.
      6. You can create home-screen shortcuts to specific carousels. Are you using this feature? You can create a carousel for each of your home screens, and put a shortcut that will launch this carousel directly. After creating the carousel, from your home-screen, click on Menu -> Add -> Shortcut -> UltimateFavesPRO -> Select the desired carousel.
      7. In case you decide to reinstall the application at some point in the future, obviously you can. The installation file is still on your phone, in your downloads folder, and you can access it with your favorite file-manager app. (If you need a recommendation, e-mail me)

      Thanks for your feedback.

A small issue that might be easily fixable, but a bit of an annoyance: As an example, you open your ‘applations’ carousel shortcut and then leave the carousel by pushing ‘home’ or going to an application you have a shortcut to; if you later click a shortcut to a differ carousel (e.g. your ‘contacts’ shortcut), it pulls up the original carousel you were on. With the up-swipe/down-swipe to change carousels, it only takes a moment to switch, but still more button pushes to get where you want.

It’s a great start to a great app! Would love to see quicker reaction/scrolling and the option to change icon. Though that may be bettercut that’s not doing IT’S job. Doesn’t fit in too well with my blue theme so I’m trying to change color. Force closes a bit with SmokedGlass V5.0 ROM, though I don’t know if you were aiming for it to be compatible with all platforms. Overall great, just needs to be quicker! Thanks!

      Hi Brian,
The app is super fast and responsive on any Android ROM that has hardware acceleration support. All stock ROM’s do, but custom ROM’s usually don’t (An exception for that is CyanogenMod, on which the app runs great!)
